Vinification:

2022 was an incredibly tough year for our family at Pilgrimage Wine Company. Jeannie Eckart (our gregarious grape-loving troubadour) passed suddenly during the growing season and our passion for wine and grape growing vanished for some time. Admittedly, the grapes were neglected and there was some talk of abandoning harvest all together. After Several incredibly difficult months it was decided that we should salvage what we could and make the wine in her honor, since she would have absolutely wanted us to do that.

We waited to pick as long as we could hoping to increase ripeness and make drier wines. In the end we achieved our goal. All white wines were fermented in stainless, but without temp control which led to some interesting fruit characters and less aromatics than usual. We believe there is an inherit tension in the wine as a result of the difficult circumstance in which the wine was made.
